Is US Supreme Court About to Strike Down Medicare?

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

The US Supreme Court is being asked whether or not the insurance mandate contained in Obamacare is constitutional.  That mandate is straightforward:  Everyone pays into a national health insurance program in order to fund a national health insurance program.

That’s not too complicated right?  After all that’s how we fund Medicare.

So if this ideologically very, very conservative court decides, once again by a 5-4 vote, to overturn decades old constitutional law by ruling Obamacare unconstitutional it will simultaneously invalidate Medicare.   And you thought the Supreme Court was not supposed to write legislation all by itself.

Be very afraid folks.  You may be about to realize why it’s a bad idea to have the wealthy always write the law.
